Troubleshooting the Offset command The offset command will produce a copy of an object at a specified distance. The specified distance can be input either as a value or as the distance between 2 points. Problems can arise if 2 points are picked inadvertently instead of typing in a value.
Best practice with offset is to type in the distance as soon as prompted. Problems can be caused if a left mouse click is made at the point where you are asked to specify the distance. Another left mouse click could provide the wrong value.
You are then asked to specify (left mouse click) a point on the side you wish the copy to be produced. On the latest Autocad software versions a shadow of the result is provided. However if you don't provide a left click on the required side for the copy then the offset command will be finished without a result.
