Troubleshooting the Copy Command (CP) Copy like many other commands uses the format of select objects and enter to finish object selection.
Many start off by reluctantly reading the command line (It's mandatory), then keep on selecting objects which gets them nowhere. What they are forgetting is that you have to tell the software that you have finished selecting objects with the enter key or right mouse button. Once this is done, the command line will ask you to specify a base point.
Think of this as a from point. So in effect copy these objects which I have accepted with the enter key or right mouse "From" this base point to this point.
If you type in a distance after the base point is selected, with ortho mode on, your first copy will be placed at that distance in the direction of the cursor.
Copy command carries on producing multiple copies until you push enter or right mous If you type in a number of distances for multiple copies they must be accumulative from the base point.i.e. 500,1000,1500 etc.,However you might do this more efficiently with the array command.
