Troubleshooting the Mirror Command Mirror works initially works in the same was as copy. You must remember to push enter key or right mouse to accept the objects to be mirrored.
Difficulties arise when people don't understand the meaning of the command line instruction to specify a first point on the mirror line, then a second point.
Think of mirror as basically the same as copy except that the position of the result is determined by 2 points on a mirror line.
A practical example of mirror would be to fold a piece of paper in half. Cut out a pattern and open up to see a mirrored image of your cut out. The fold in the paper is a mirror line.
In CAD any 2 points on a mirror line will determine the position of the copy.
In some instances you will only have 1 point available for a mirror line. However if Ortho mode is turned on (F8) after the first point is specified then ortho will keep the 2nd point perpendicular to the first so that mirror command can be used with just one mirror point.
